How Amazon selling fees work in 2026

Amazon takes two main cuts on every FBA sale: a referral fee (a category-based commission on the sale price) and an FBA fulfillment fee (a flat per-unit charge for pick, pack and ship, based on size and weight). Referral fees were frozen for 2026 — unchanged since January 2024 — while FBA fulfillment fees rose by an average of about $0.08 per unit from January 15, 2026.

Referral fees are tiered in some categories

Most categories charge a flat 15%, but several are tiered, meaning the rate changes with price. Clothing is the clearest example: items at or below $15 pay 5%, the $15–$20 band pays 10%, and above $20 pays 17%. Grocery charges 8% under $15 and 15% above. This calculator applies the correct tier automatically when you change the price — which is exactly why the rate note next to the price field updates as you type.

The $0.30 minimum referral fee

Most categories carry a $0.30 minimum referral fee per unit. On sub-$4 items the minimum, not the percentage, sets your fee — so a cheap accessory can be quietly unprofitable even at a "low" rate. The calculator enforces this floor.

Use the price slider to defend your margin

Drag the price slider and watch margin and ROI move. When a competitor undercuts you or Amazon nudges fulfillment fees, this is the fastest way to find the lowest price you can run while protecting your target margin. Bookmark it — most sellers re-check this every time they reprice.

2026 referral fees by category (quick reference)
  • 15% (flat): Home & Kitchen, Beauty (over $10), Toys, Pet, Sports, Office, Tools, Garden, Baby, Health
  • Electronics: 8% (consumer electronics); Electronics Accessories 15% up to $100, 8% on the portion above
  • Clothing & Accessories: 5% at/under $15, 10% for $15–$20, 17% above $20
  • Grocery: 8% under $15, 15% over $15
  • Beauty: 8% at/under $10, 15% above
  • Jewelry: 20% up to $250, 5% on the portion above
  • Amazon Device Accessories: 45%

Referral fees are calculated on the full transaction value (item price plus any shipping/gift-wrap you charge), not just the item price. Verify your exact category in Seller Central — listing in the wrong browse node is a common, costly error.

Margin vs ROI — which should you target?

Margin (profit ÷ sale price) tells you how much of each sale you keep — useful for pricing and PPC headroom. ROI (profit ÷ cost) tells you how hard your cash is working — useful for deciding what to reorder. A high-margin product with slow turnover can have worse ROI than a thin-margin product that sells fast. Watch both; reorder on ROI, price on margin.

What this calculator doesn't include

Monthly storage, long-term storage surcharges, inbound placement fees, returns processing, and advertising are not included by default — add them via "Other cost / unit" if you want a fully loaded number. FBA fulfillment fees here are estimated from weight as a starting point; pull the exact figure from your listing's fee preview in Seller Central for precision. Figures are estimates, not financial advice.
